Orchards demand patience; cultivation takes time, and every season arrives in its own measure. Whether you stay until the final harvest or leave before the fruit ripens has always been yours to decide.

the sweet, the bitter, and the bittersweet

Orchards ask for patience.

Nothing ripens in a day, and nothing truly disappears once it has taken root. The fruits gathered in these pages were written over different seasons, but they found themselves returning to the same land: one of sweetness, abundance, devotion, decay, and the quiet work of letting go.

These poems are less interested in love as an event than in love as cultivation. They ask what happens when something beautiful grows beyond its season; when harvest becomes overgrowth; when sweetness and bitterness share the same branch.

And so, all I ask of you as you enter Sweet Lemons & Blood Oranges is the same patience the orchard demands.
